ForeFlight is the standard EFB. As of 2026, the tiers have evolved (often renamed to Starter/Essential/Premium), but the functionality remains: Basic Plus (~$125/yr): Good for VFR. Includes Sectionals, IFR Low/High charts, Weather, and Logbook. Pro Plus (~$250/yr): The "sweet spot" for IFR. Adds Geo-referenced approach plates (seeing your plane on the chart) and Synthetic Vision (backup attitude indicator). Performance Plus (~$370/yr): Adds advanced fuel calculations (Pre-Departure Clearance), 3D airport previews, and Trip Assistant. If you think about it, one year of the "Pro" subscription costs less than one hour of flight instruction (Instructor + Plane), making it worthwhile for 99% of pilots. Personally, I use Pro and I'm just a PPL.
